Ben

We decided to start this blog so we can share pictures and stories about the newest member of the family... Benjamin Scott McKenzie. Benjamin showed up on Tuesday, June 3, at 5:49 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds 8 oz, and was 19 inches long.

After the long and super-fun labor process (sarcasm), we were very excited to meet him! Of course, at that point we were expecting a girl named Katie. However, when he arrived, we immediately noticed two things: 1. a crazy head of hair-he looks like a rock star! Woo! 2. She was definitely a he. This is something I had been worrying about all along... we were just pushing our luck with all the dresses and pink stuff. :) I couldn't care less, though. I was just so glad to have him there! And the immediate thrill of not being pregnant anymore didn't hurt.

We just got home from the hospital today. We are now just trying to figure out how life works with a baby. I have discovered that I am NOT good at changing diapers. You think it would be so simple. Not true... at least, not right now. Peter is good at it. Maybe you have to have a masters degree.

For the next week, the plan is to hang out, get to know Ben, convince the beagles that we still love them, and figure out how to be parents. He's a great kid so far, and super good-looking, of course. We're pretty excited!

Here is the link to his "e-cradle" post on Community Medical Center's web site.

I am so happy for you guys! He is one good looking kiddo! Very healthy too, that is great! Isn't labor fabulous??:) And amazingly enough we are willing to go through that pain more than once! Don't worry about the diaper changing thing, it is a tough one, especially with little boys! The trick I used was a pee rag, every time I opened the diaper to change them, I put the pee rag over their hose so they wouldn't spray me, works pretty good! Anyways, love the pictures!
